Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s Budget fails the fiscal consolidation test, Senior Congress Leader and former Finance Minister Chidambaram had said in a press conference after Union Budget 2018.
The fiscal slippage in the financial year 2017-18 and the revised target of 3.2 percent in FY19 “will have serious consequences and raise grave doubts about India’s commitment to fiscal consolidation,” he had warned.
