Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S25 Edge this month, with shipments starting on May 30, while the iPhone 16 has been available globally since its launch in September 2024. Pricing reveals notable differences — the Galaxy S25 Edge begins at £1,099 (around Rs 1.27 lakh) for the 256GB storage variant paired with 12GB of RAM. Opting for 512GB with the same RAM increases the cost to £1,199 (around Rs 1.38 lakh).

The iPhone 16, on the other hand, offers a wider range of configurations, starting at £799 (around Rs 92,000) for 128GB of storage with 8GB RAM, rising to £899 (around Rs 1.04 lakh) for 256GB, and topping out at £1,099 (around Rs 1.27 lakh) for the 512GB model. While Samsung’s entry-level price is around £300 (around Rs 35,000) higher, it includes double the storage compared to the iPhone’s base model, according to Techradar.

Visually, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 16 take noticeably different approaches. The iPhone 16 has softer, rounded corners and a larger screen cut-out, while both devices have flat displays, glass backs and metal frames. Samsung has chosen a premium titanium frame, while Apple sticks with aluminium.

The camera modules on both phones are rectangular with dual lenses, but the Galaxy S25 Edge integrates its flash within the module. On the iPhone 16, it sits adjacent. Both carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Their dimensions vary — Samsung’s device is larger and slimmer (158.2 x 75.6 x 5.8mm, 163g), while the iPhone 16 is more compact but thicker and heavier (147.6 x 71.6 x 7.8mm, 170g).

In terms of colour options, Apple offers a palette including Black, White, Pink, Teal and Ultramarine. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge comes in Titanium Icyblue, Titanium Silver and Titanium Jetblack.

When it comes to display, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge offers a larger 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 3120 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, packing around 513 pixels per inch. The iPhone 16 features a smaller 6.1-inch OLED display with a 1179 x 2556 resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate, delivering about 460 pixels per inch. Despite these lower specs, Techradar’s review highlights the iPhone 16’s screen as reliable for use both indoors and outdoors.

In terms of photography, both phones feature dual rear cameras but with distinct specifications. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge includes a powerful 200MP main sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, complemented by a 12MP ultra-wide lens (f/2.2) and a 12MP front-facing camera, supporting 8K video capture.

Apple’s iPhone 16 provides a 48MP main camera (f/1.6), a 12MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) and a 12MP selfie shooter (f/1.9), with video recording capped at 4K resolution.

The Galaxy S25 Edge has the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with 12GB RAM, whereas the iPhone 16 runs on Apple’s A18 chip with 8GB RAM. This suggests a slight performance edge for Samsung, but Techradar’s assessment of the iPhone confirms it delivers “plenty of power, likely for years to come.”

Samsung’s handset runs Android 15 with One UI 7 customisations, while Apple’s device operates on iOS 18.
