The OnePlus 13s was launched on June 5. The model will be available from June 12 on the OnePlus website and Amazon, as well as select retail outlets. Pre-bookings have already started. In terms of imaging, the OnePlus 13s includes a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 50MP Sony LYT-700 primary sensor that offers optical image stabilisation. The front of the model has a 32MP selfie camera. Apple’s iPhone 16e features a 48MP rear camera and a 12MP front-facing TrueDepth camera with autofocus.

The OnePlus 13s starts at Rs 54,999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. A higher-end variant with 512GB storage costs Rs 59,999. On the other hand, the iPhone 16e is available at a starting price of Rs 59,999 for the 128GB model. The 256GB and 512GB variants are being offered at Rs 69,999 and Rs 89,900, respectively.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset powers the OnePlus 13s. The model has LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage as well. The model runs on Android 15 with OnePlus’s OxygenOS 15 skin, which is known for its customisability and fluid interface. Apple’s iPhone 16e sports the A18 chip, a 4-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine. The company’s first in-house modem, the C1 chip, is part of the model to improve 5G connectivity and power efficiency.
On the connectivity front, both models have 5G support. The OnePlus 13s also has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NavIC for GPS positioning in India.
With its OnePlus AI suite, the 13s offers a range of tools like Call Assistant, AI Translation, VoiceScribe and a new feature called AI Plus Mind Space for organising content. The suite also includes camera-focused tools like AI Detail Boost, AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser and AI Reframe. Apple’s Intelligence platform offers subtle enhancements in its AI tools with some enhancements. It enables text clean-up in images, natural language photo searches and the ability to generate emoji (Genmoji) using AI.
In terms of safety and emergency features, Apple has an edge. The iPhone 16e offers Emergency SOS via satellite, Crash Detection and Roadside Assistance - capabilities that are a notch higher compared to Android phones. The OnePlus 13s sports an in-display fingerprint sensor and standard Android security features, but no comparable emergency integration.
In terms of features and specs, the OnePlus has an edge in display and battery life, but the Apple 16e offers more in terms of safety and emergency features.
