Expectations are flying about the iPhone 17 Air. And now, it is being reported that the latest iPhone, the one that will kill the iPhone 17 Plus, literally before it is born, is likely to get charging "wings", so to speak. Apple is expected to bring big changes to in its flagship iPhone lineup after iPhone 16e has been done and dusted. The new iPhone may well roll out with much faster charging speeds. Other features in tow could be a different camera design, along with the presence of special materials.

Titanium for iPhone 17 Air

According to analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 Air will replace the Plus model and come with a titanium frame. Titanium is stronger than aluminium, which has been used in previous Plus models. Titanium is expected to help prevent bending since the Air should be just 5.5mm thick.

Another analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, thinks the Air will use a blend of titanium and aluminium, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max does. This could make it lighter and more affordable while maintaining durability.

Aluminum for Other Models

Last year’s Pro models featured aluminium frames, but the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max are expected to use titanium instead. Some reports claim the Pros will still use titanium, but Pu’s report suggests otherwise.

Apple is also said to be boosting charging speeds. The iPhone 16 series was able to go up to around 30W, while the new iPhone could get up to 35W.

Though this is a small upgrade, it’s still an improvement. Apple has been conservative with battery technology, and iPhones generally charge slower than other flagship smartphones.

With these rumoured changes, the iPhone 17 lineup could be more durable, eco-friendly, and slightly faster to charge. More details are expected later this year.
