Apple's latest offering in the iPhone 16e series is likely to be using a binned chip and not the top-notch A18 chip found in the iPhone 16, according to 9to5 Mac. A binned chip is a chipset that was deactivated instead of getting scrapped and hence has fewer cores. This makes it eligible for reuse, but it lacks the same capacity that a fresh chipset may have.

Apple had initially used an A18 chipset with five cores of GPU and a central processing unit of six cores for its iPhone 16 smartphone, and the 'Pro' version had six cores of GPU and six cores of CPU.
The iPhone 16 Pro is reportedly 15% faster in processing graphics than the base version due to this extra core.
Users who play graphically intensive video games or engage in video editing on the iPhone 16e may not see the same efficiency in those tasks as compared to other models in the iPhone 16 series, but other processes should not be affected by this.
Apple's latest addition to its iPhone 16 series, the iPhone 16e, is priced at $599. This affordable variant is $200 cheaper than the iPhone 16, although $170 more than expected.
In India, the device will retail at Rs 59,990. Apart from the A18 chip, 8GB RAM, and 128GB storage, the iPhone 16e features Apple Intelligence and contains the company's first in-house manufactured modem, known as the 'C1'.
Notably, Apple has shifted away from using Qualcomm parts. The iPhone 16e's durability is enhanced by its 'ceramic shield' front cover, which Apple claims is the toughest smartphone glass available, paired with the strongest back glass in a smartphone.
