Cognizant has announced that it has open-sourced its Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator for research and academic use. This open-source software enables domain experts, researchers, and developers to immediately start prototyping and building agent networks across virtually any use case.

The open-source software will help accelerate AI adoption by promoting collaboration in building and customising multi-agent systems. Enterprises can leverage Cognizant’s Multi-Agent Services Suite to deploy networks of agents in a commercial setting at scale and to manage them in production, under a commercial license.

Building a successful multi-agent network requires integrating diverse agents, tools, and knowledge sources, including general-purpose large language models and systems like service level management or retrieval-augmented generation frameworks.

Cognizant’s Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator aims to enable seamless integration with APIs, RAG, and third-party agents like Salesforce's Agentforce, Google's Agentspace, or Crew AI via its native Model Context Protocol or standard API calls. An optional inter-agent coordination protocol allows these agents to autonomously organise, delegate tasks, and route processes, boosting efficiency.

Cognizant is also expanding its collaboration with Pegasystems to augment its agentic AI services and drive rapid cloud transformations for joint clients.

Enterprises on legacy systems continue to incur major costs every year in operations, maintenance, and licensing, and “hidden” costs such as poor customer experience, inefficient processes, and lack of real-time data.

Organisations are also moving away from traditional “lift-and-shift” approaches of legacy systems modernisation towards AI-infused transformation journeys. Cognizant and Pega are coming together through this collaboration to help enterprises accelerate their journey and achieve business outcomes.

By leveraging its workbench for AI-driven legacy code rewrite capabilities, business rules and data extraction, Cognizant aims to help customers optimise and reimagine processes and build AI-powered systems on the Pega Infinity platform.
