Choosing a smartphone in 2025 is not just restricted to an Android or an iPhone device. With a saturated market and diverse user needs, phone makers now span all budgets — from affordable all-rounders to high-performance flagships.

Whether users upgrade yearly or prioritise long-term value, here are some of the best options available in the market.

Google Pixel 9a

The Pixel 9a runs smoothly and will get software and security updates for the next seven years. Priced at around $495 (around Rs 42,400), it has many of the same features as the more expensive Pixel 9, like a 6.3-inch 120 Hz screen and Google’s Tensor G4 chip. The battery is slightly bigger at 5,100 mAh, but it doesn’t support fast wireless or reverse charging like the Pixel 9. The main difference is in the cameras — the 9a has smaller sensors, so low-light photos aren’t as good, and the ultrawide and selfie cameras are simpler. Still, it includes useful AI photo tools, making it a smart buy for budget users who want premium features.

OnePlus 13R

If you care about speed and performance, the OnePlus 13R is a strong option. It comes with the high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage. Its large 6.8-inch 120 Hz display and 6,000 mAh battery with 80 W fast charging are great for gaming and watching videos. The camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 2x zoom lens, and a 16MP selfie camera, though the ultrawide lens isn't the best. It doesn’t support mmWave 5G and isn’t very water-resistant, but it promises four years of Android updates and six years of security support.

OnePlus 13

Another phone from the OnePlus family is waiting for your attention. The OnePlus 13, which starts at $899 (around Rs 77,000), offers strong performance at a good price. It runs on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which can even compete with Apple’s A18. The 6.8-inch QHD screen looks great, and the big 6,000 mAh battery lasts a long time. With IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, it’s also very durable. The cameras are impressive too — three 50 50MP sensors plus a 32 MP selfie camera.
