The government also proposed to set up trade centres across seven locations in Mumbai.

The Maharashtra Budget presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday entailed key announcements for Mumbai, including an allotment of over Rs 64,000 crore to ease the state capital's traffic woes through infrastructural development.
The proposed Rs 64,783-crore will be utilised towards constructing major infrastructure projects including Versova to Madh Bay Bridge, Versova to Bhayandar Coastal Road, Mulund to Goregaon, Thane to Borivali, and Orange Gate to Marine Drive subway, NDTV Marathi reported.
The move to address Mumbai's traffic congestion will remain keenly watched, as the city has a high vehicle density. More than 28 lakh new vehicles were registered in Maharashtra in 2024, representing a 12.32% rise from 25.63 lakh registrations in 2023, news agency PTI had reported, citing official data.
In the budget, the government also proposed to set up trade centres across seven locations of Mumbai namely Kurla, Navi Mumbai, Bandra-Kurla Complex - Kharghar and Virar-Boisar, benefiting the development of Mumbai.
Additionally, an elevated road is also proposed to be developed from Thane to Navi Mumbai International Airport. The two suburbs of Kalyan and Dombivali are expected to benefit from this connectivity.
The Maharashtra government also plans to designate the Mumbai Metropolitan Region as a "growth zone" as part of the plans to expand the size of the economy from $140 billion to $1.5 trillion by 2047.
