'See You In Las Vegas': John Cena To Host WWE WrestleMania 42

Cena retired from in-ring competition last December after losing to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event during the farewell tour.

John Cena, who retired from wrestling last year, announced on Monday that he would be hosting WrestleMania 42 in a return to WWE that came as a pleasant surprise to the fans.

The record 17-time World Champion posted a video of on his social media accounts with the caption: "Since retirement, my “road” has looked a little different… but now I can officially say I'm headed to WrestleMania!!!! See you in Las Vegas!"

The announcement shed some light on Cena's post-retirement role in WWE, following his remarks at MegaCon in Orlando earlier this month where he hinted at having "cracked the code" on a new way to remain involved with the company.

Cena retired from in-ring competition last December after losing to Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event during the farewell tour. He had won his 17th WWE ritle by defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 last year.

WrestleMania 42 is scheduled to be held from April 18-19 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the second straight time that the city is hosting the event.

  • United States Championship match: Sami Zayn (c) vs Trick Williams
