Indian shooters Palak and Mukesh Nelavalli delivered a record-breaking performance to clinch gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup in Granada on Tuesday, April 7 setting a new world record in the process.

The young duo, both aged 20, posted a stunning 487.7 in the final, a score that also stands as a junior world record. Palak registered a score of 243.0 while Mukesh shot 244.7, showcasing remarkable composure under pressure.

Their dominance was evident right from the qualification round, where they finished second with 581-17x, just behind China's Qianxun Yao and Kai Hu, who topped qualification with 586-23x.

In the final, the Chinese pair settled for silver medal with 484.8, while Hungary's Veronika Major and Akos Karoly Nagy took home bronze after scoring 414.9.

Palak has been a rising force in Indian shooting ever since her breakout at the 2023 Asian Games, where she won individual gold, team silver, and set an Asian Games record of 242.1, securing a quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Mukesh, meanwhile, continues to strengthen his reputation as one of India's most promising pistol shooters and is already a junior world champion.
