Sam Curran and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been handed a big blow ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. English all-rounder Curran is set to miss the upcoming season of the T20 extravaganza after he suffered a suspected groin injury, according to ESPNCricinfo.

The Royals traded in Curran and Ravindra Jadeja from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their long-time skipper Sanju Samson went the other way. The 27-year-old was last seen in action at the T20 World Cup where he scored 122 runs and picked six wickets for England.

Along with playing for CSK, Curran has also featured for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL. In all, he has played 64 IPL matches and scored 997 runs while claiming 59 wickets.

In the 2022 IPL auction for the 2023 season, Punjab bought Curran for Rs 18.5 crore, which made him the most expensive player in the league's history at the time. The record of being the most expensive player in the IPL is now with Rishabh Pant, who was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore at the 2024 auction.
