With excitement building ahead of the T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand, Central Railway has announced two special train services between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to facilitate travel for cricket fans. The match will be played on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In a post on X, Central Railway said it was introducing the services to support fans travelling to the city for the ultimate clash.
“Central Railway cheers Team India – Let's Bring the World Cup Home Again!” the post read, adding that the special services would run between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Ahmedabad.
Special Train Services And Schedule
Central Railway has announced two services under train numbers 01153 and 01154. These special trains will allow supporters to travel conveniently to Ahmedabad before the final and return to Mumbai the following day.
Train No. 01153 will depart from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at 11.05 p.m. on March 7. The train is scheduled to reach Ahmedabad at 6.40 a.m. on March 8, giving fans enough time to attend the high-profile final later in the evening.
The return service, Train No. 01154, will depart from Ahmedabad at 4 a.m. on March 9, a day after the final, and arrive back at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai at 12.55 p.m. the same day.
Halts And Train Composition
According to Central Railway, the special trains will halt at some key stations along the route to accommodate passengers from different regions. The scheduled halts include Dadar railway station, Thane railway station, Vasai Road railway station, Surat railway station and Vadodara railway station.
The trains will consist primarily of air-conditioned economy coaches. The composition includes 18 AC 3-tier economy coaches along with two generator cars to support onboard power requirements.
Bookings Open For Fans
Bookings for the special services opened on March 7. Passengers can check detailed timings and halt information through the Indian Railways enquiry portal or the NTES mobile application.
The initiative comes as thousands of cricket fans are expected to travel to Ahmedabad for the blockbuster final between India and New Zealand, with the match slated to draw massive crowds at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
