PM Modi To Visit Varanasi And Bihar On June 18-19; Check Full Schedule And Key Details

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi won from his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi for the third consecutive time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on June 18 and 19 to participate in several inauguration ceremonies.

According to a PMO release, PM Modi will participate in PM Kisan Samman Sammelan at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, around 5 pm on Tuesday. He will witness 'ganga aarti' at Dashashwamedh Ghat around 7 pm. Around 8 PM, he will perform 'pooja' and seek 'darshan' at Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

This will be his first visit to Varanasi after assuming office for the third consecutive term.

On June 19, the prime minister will witness the ruins of Nalanda around 9:45 am. He will inaugurate the campus of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar, at 10:30 am, and address the people.

PM Modi Varanasi Visit Details

In Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi is to release the 17th instalment of PM Kisan Nidhi amounting to more than Rs 20,000 crore to around 9.26 crore beneficiary farmers.

"After being sworn in as Prime Minister for the 3rd time, PM Narendra Modi signed his first file authorising release of 17th instalment of PM Kisan Nidhi reflecting the commitment of the government towards farmer welfare," a PMO release said.

He will hand over certificates to more than 30,000 women from self help groups (SHGs), such as 'krishi sakhis'.

Krishi Sakhi Convergence Programme (KSCP) is an initiative to transform rural India by empowering rural women as 'krishi sakhis'. This programme provides training and certification to women as para-extension workers.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar. This university is envisioned as a collaboration between India and East Asia Summit (EAS) countries. Several prominent personalities, including the Heads of Missions of 17 countries will be a part of the inauguration ceremony.

The layout of the campus comprises two academic blocks with 40 classrooms that can hold around 1,900 students. It has two auditoriums having a capacity of 300 seats each. It has a student hostel for approximately 550 students. The campus has other facilities, including the international centre and amphitheatre that can accommodate up to 2,000 people, faculty club and sports complex.

"The campus is a ‘Net Zero’ green campus. It is self-sustainable with a solar plant, domestic and drinking water treatment plant, water recycling plant for reusing wastewater, 100 acres of water bodies, and many other environment-friendly facilities," the PMO stated.

The university holds a deep connection with history. The original Nalanda university was established almost 1,600 years ago and was among the first residential universities. The ruins of Nalanda were announced as a UN heritage site in 2016.
