The selloff in stocks after a brief Nvidia Corp.-led rally spread from Wall Street to Asia, as renewed concerns over the artificial intelligence sector prompted investors to pull back from riskier assets.

The Kospi Index tumbled as much as 4.1% and is on its way to be the worst week since early March. The Topix in Japan fell 0.5% which is set for the biggest weekly drop since April as volatility spiked on Wall Street and technology stocks took a beating, reports Bloomberg.

Commodity Check

Gold was steady after a mixed US jobs report that offered little fresh incentive for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates. Bullion was trading around $4,080 an ounce, after dropping marginally in the previous session. Gold edged up 0.1% to $4,082.90 an ounce at 7:18 a.m. in Singapore. Silver and platinum were flat, while palladium was up slightly, as per a Bloomberg report.

Oil prices dropped because Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to work on a peace plan with Russia, which might lead to potential relief from US sanctions on Russia. West Texas Intermediate dropped for a third session toward $58 a barrel, while Brent closed near $63 on Thursday, reports Bloomberg.

Copper erased gains as traders cast doubt on a December rate cut by the Federal Reserve as reports of a mixed US jobs gained momentum. Copper slipped 0.1% to settle at $10,738.50 a metric ton on the London Metal Exchange. Copper traded on New York’s Comex dropped 0.9% to settle at $5.0485 a pound. This was the lowest since Nov. 7. Other LME metals were mixed, with zinc up 1.2% while nickel falling 1%, reports Bloomberg.
