In Asia, Japan's benchmark Nikkei 250 was down 0.9% while South Korea's Kospi gained 0.35% early Tuesday. Australia's SPX/ASX 200 surged 0.38%.
US markets ended mixed on Monday with decline in tech stocks. The S&P 500 rose 0.16% to close at 5,836, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.86% to 42,297. Nasdaq Composite declined 0.38% to 19,088.
In the futures market, S&P 500 was up 0.27% and Dow Jones by 0.16% as of 6:15 a.m. India time. Nasdaq futures climbed 0.44%, indicating a possible rebound in tech stocks.
The US Dollar Index remained steady at 109.95, while the US 10-year bond yield stood at 4.76%.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.57% to $81 per barrel, and gold spot prices edged up 0.18% to $2,667.87.
Indian equities extended their fall for the fourth consecutive session, with financials, energy and realty stocks weighing down the indices. The Nifty has seen the worst first nine sessions of a year since 2016.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 345.55 points or 1.47%, lower at 23,085, while the BSE Sensex lost 1,048.90 points or 1.36%, to close at 76,330.01.
Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the seventh straight session on Monday and sold stocks worth Rs 4,892.8 crore. Domestic institutional investors have been buyers for the 19th consecutive session and bought stocks worth Rs 8,066.1 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
The Indian rupee weakened by 61 paise to end at 86.58 against the US dollar.

Bharat Electronics: The company has received work orders totaling Rs 561 crore, with major orders including communication equipment, electro-optics, upgrades for the satcom network, radar and fire control systems, spares, services, and more.
ITI: The company has secured orders from Sambalpur University in Odisha for Wi-Fi and LAN services valued at Rs 35 crore, and an Integrated Security System order from Central Railway worth Rs 29.14 crore, bringing the total to Rs 64 crore.
Adani Wilmar: Lence PTE has authorised Adani commodities to sell 9.3 crore shares in the offer for sale. Lence is one of the company's promoters.
Chambal Fertilisers & Chemicals: The company has received a GST demand order of Rs 1.3 crore from the Kolkata tax authority, with a penalty imposed for the non-payment of service tax under the reverse charge mechanism.
Torrent Pharmaceuticals: The company has set Feb. 1 as the record date to determine its members for the purpose of paying the interim dividend, subject to approval by the board at their meeting scheduled for Jan. 24.
IEL: The company has set Jan. 17 as the record date for the rights issue. The rights issue, valued at Rs 45 crore, has already been approved by the company.
Bartronics India: The company's promoter is set to sell 1.9 crore shares through an OFS on Jan. 14 and 15, representing a 6.29% stake in the company. The floor price for the OFS has been set at Rs 22 per share.
Dabur India: The company has received a GST demand order of Rs 3.47 crore, including interest and penalty, from the Kolkata tax authority. It has stated that this order will not impact its financial, operational, or other activities.
IFGL Refractories: The company has received a demand cum show cause notice for Rs 2.5 crore from the Gujarat Customs Department.
The show cause notice, issued by the Commissioner of Customs, Kandla, pertains to the period from fiscal 2019-20 to fiscal 2023-24.
It alleges that the company's Kandla SEZ unit procured Bauxite/Calcined Bauxite from DTA suppliers without paying Export Duty.

The Indian rupee ended at record closing low against the US dollar for the fourth session in a row on Monday as bank persistently purchased the greenback on fears that the Indian unit will decline further.
The rupee depreciated beyond the psychologically crucial level of 86 per dollar at open, as the dollar index hovered around over two-year high and oil prices surged.
