Stock Market Today: All You Need To Know Going Into Trade On Dec. 10

In Asia, most indices opened higher tracking positive sentiment from China. While Australia's ASX 200 traded 0.5% lower at 7:17 a.m., ahead of rate decision, South Korea's Kospi rose over 2%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng added over 1%, and Japan's Nikkei was up 0.1%.

In US, S&P 500 ended down 0.61% at 6,052.85, Dow Jones fell 0.54% to 44,401.93, and Nasdaq Composite ended down 0.62% at 19,736.69.

The GIFT Nifty was at 24,715.50, down by 14 points, or 0.06% as of 7:21 a.m.

The benchmark equity indices ended the first session of the week on Monday on a subdued note. The NSE Nifty 50 ended 58.80 points or 0.24% lower at 24,619 and the BSE Sensex closed 200.66 points or 0.25% down at 81,508.46. During the day, both the Nifty and Sensex had fallen 0.4% each.

Overseas investors turned net buyers of Indian equities on Monday after a day of selling, while domestic institutional investors turned net sellers after a day of buying. Foreign portfolio investors bought stocks worth Rs 724.3 crore, while the DIIs sold stocks worth Rs 1,648.1 crore, according to provisional data shared by the National Stock Exchange.

The Indian currency weakened by 3 paise to close at 84.73 against the US Dollar.

Stocks To Watch

  • Hardwyn India: The company signed an MoU with Gyalsung Infra, Bhutan, to supply architectural hardware and glass fittings. According to the MoU, the products will be supplied for two years and will be valued at approximately Rs 5 crore.

  • JSW Steel: The company reported consolidated crude steel production in November at 23.2 lakh tonnes. The Indian operation production grew 7% year-on-year, while consolidated crude steel production grew by 5% year-on-year.

  • Insurance Companies: Insurance stocks will be in focus on the back of data released by the Life Insurance Council for November.

  • Bharat Forge: The company has closed its QIP and set an issue price of Rs 1,320 per share.

  • Bajaj Finserv: Bajaj Allianz General Insurance's gross direct premium stood at Rs 1,365 crore in November. Bajaj Allianz Life's total new business was at Rs 659 crore.

  • Bharat Electronics: The company received an order worth Rs 634 crore.

  • Vodafone Idea: The company approved the issuance of 176 crore shares on a preferential basis of up to Rs 1,980 crore. The company approved the issue of shares to Omega Telecom and Usha Martin.

  • Bajaj Healthcare: The company is entering into a definitive CDMO contract with UK-based companies for 15 new APIs. The new CDMO pipeline has a mix of, off-patent generic APIs as well as APIs that are still under patent.

  • HMA Agro Industries: The company entered into facilities agreement with Al Raiyan Export for slaughtering, processing of frozen buffalo meat.

  • PG Electroplast: The company closed its QIP and set an issue price of Rs 699 per share. The issue price indicates a 0.88% discount to the floor price.

  • Metropolis Healthcare: The company acquired Core Diagnostics for Rs 247 crore to become a leading cancer testing company. This strategic acquisition will enhance Metropolis' capabilities in advanced cancer testing, while deepening its presence in northern and eastern India and driving market-share expansion in the specialised segment across the country.

  • NHPC: The company on Dec. 12. will meet to consider and approve the revised borrowing plan of Rs 2,600 crore for raising debt during the financial year ending March 2025.

  • Lupin: The public insurer Life Insurance Corp. reduced its stake in the company to 2.542% from 4.569%.

  • ICICI Prudential Insurance: The company reported a 149.6% year-on-year rise in new business premiums and new business sum assured was up 20.5% year-on-year for the month of November.

  • Cellecor Gadgets: The company partnered with TCI Express, DTDC Express, OM Logistics, Express Roadways to strengthen its supply chain efficiency.

  • Balu Forge Industries: The company to introduce new technology for high-precision machining. It aims to expand its product portfolio into high precision and critical components namely in the areas of aerospace, defence, railways, oil & gas.

  • DCM Shriram: The company entered a definitive pact with JSW Renew Energy Thirty-Two for the renewable power project.

  • Centrum Capital: The company's arm Centrum Finverse received a certificate of registration from CDSL.

  • Karur Vysya Bank: The bank revised the base rate to 11.7% from 11.8% and revised BPLR to 16.7% from 16.8% effective Dec. 13.

  • Zota Health Care: The company received a registration licence for 12 products from the Department of Pharmaceutical Administration, Vietnam.

  • Pennar Industries: To consider entering a joint venture to expand its business.

Money Market Update

The Indian rupee weakened by three paise to close at 84.73 against the US Dollar on Monday, after opening four paise strong at 84.66 against the greenback in the morning's trade.

The domestic currency had closed last week on a positive note, after the Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee maintained the benchmark interest rates and unveiled measures to boost liquidity in the market.

The rupee had strengthened by three paise on Friday, closing at 84.7 against the greenback, according to Bloomberg data.
