Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex Extend Losses To Fourth Day; Trent, Power Grid Top Losers

The Nifty 50 declined 1% intraday to below the 23,500-support level seen by analysts. Trent, Power Grid, Tata Steel, and Titan were the top Nifty losers.

The benchmark Nifty 50 and Sensex opened lower on Monday. Both indices fell 0.9%. The Nifty shed nearly 200 points to dip below 23,400 and the Sensex lost 700 points to go under 77,200. JSW Steel and Tata Steel declined the most by over 2% after US President Donald Trump threatened to slap tariffs imports on steel and aluminum from all countries.

US Futures Rise 

As 3:40 p.m. India time, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 futures were trading 0.26%% and 0.36% higher, respectively. The Nasdaq 100 future was trading 0.54% higher.


Rupee Ends Weaker Against Dollar

The rupee weakened by five paise to close at 87.48 against the US Dollar. It closed at 87.43 on Friday.
