Sensex, Nifty End Higher Aided By Energy, Auto, Realty Stocks

India's stock benchmarks ended with gains, aided by gains in energy, auto, and realty stocks.

The Sensex rose 0.39% to close at 61,185.15 on the BSE, while the Nifty 50 ended 0.47% higher at 18,202.80 on the NSE. Among the Nifty 50 constituents, 34 stocks rose and15 fell, while one remained unchanged.

Britannia Industries Ltd., State Bank of India, Adani Enterprises Ltd., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. and Eicher Motors Ltd. were the top gainers, while Divi's Laboratories Ltd., Asian Paints Ltd., Cipla Ltd., Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. were the top laggards of the 50-stock index.

The broader indices outperformed their larger peers with the mid cap and the small cap gaining 0.61% and 0.67%, respectively. The large cap index also outperformed with 0.51% gains.

Seventeen of the 20 sectoral measures complied by BSE Ltd. advanced, with energy, auto, oil & gas, metal and realty indices gaining over 1%.

The market breadth is skewed in favour of the bulls. About 2,056 stocks rose, 1506 fell and 189 remained unchanged.
