Actor Yami Gautam has responded to social media speculation after users noticed that she had “liked” an Instagram reel that appeared to mock Kriti Sanon's recent Best Actress award win at the Zee Cine Awards. The interaction quickly went viral online, prompting the actor to clarify her stance.
Taking to X, Yami explained the 'like' was not intentional and may have happened accidentally while navigating through multiple tags and posts on social media.

“It has come to my notice that I apparently ‘liked' a reel that is condescending toward another actor. We get tagged in multiple things every day, and this appeared during an award function, like any other tag. It isn't true and was definitely not done consciously; if anything, it may have been clicked accidentally.”
Addressing the buzz around the incident, the actor also said, “Never in my life have I resorted to cheap PR tactics. I have always focused on my work and moved on.”
She further added, “In the world of clickbait, it's tempting for even dignified social media portals to harp on this and turn it into coffee-table gossip. But I would hope they would consider that I have earned a better reputation than that.”
In the final part of her note, Yami said, “I have no PR team, have respectfully cleared my stance on entertainment award shows long ago, and remain focused on my work.”
Soon after her post, several fans reacted online in support of the actor. One user wrote, “You don't need to explain anything. Your work and your films speak louder than any rumour. Your acting and class have already shut everyone's mouth.” Some fans also suggested that the actor should not waste time responding to online gossip. “Don't focus on negativity ma'am. They are jealous of you and your work. Don't give clarifications to them,” one user posted. Another fan added, “Your fan base is much wiser than you imagine. Keep up the good work.”
Behind Viral ‘Like' Video
The viral Instagram reel combined footage of Kriti Sanon celebrating her Best Actress award with a clip from Yami Gautam's earlier interview with THR India, where she spoke about not measuring her talent based on awards and choosing not to seek validation through them. As the video began circulating widely online, users noticed that Yami had liked the post, further fuelling discussions on social media.
On the work front, Yami Gautam last appeared in the courtroom drama Haq, directed by Suparn Verma and featuring Emraan Hashmi and Sheeba Chaddha.
