A routine weekday at the Indian box office produced contrasting outcomes for two very different films on Monday. Ranveer Singh's blockbuster Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge maintained its record-breaking momentum even in its sixth week, while Akshay Kumar's horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla saw a noticeable decline as it moved into the weekday phase of its second week.
Dhurandhar 2 Reports Steady Numbers Despite Drop
Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, collected Rs 1.05 crore net in India on Day 40 (sixth Monday), as per Sacnilk reports. The film registered a 69% drop from Sunday's collection, marking the lowest single-day collection for the film. However, this is expected at this stage of its six-week-long theatrical run.
Despite the drop, the spy thriller added to its massive total, taking its India net collections to Rs 1,131.64 crore. On the global front, with a significant contribution from the overseas market, the film has grossed Rs 1,779.02 crore.

With the film being released in different languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, it has proven its pan-India appeal through its exceptional performance, even in the sixth week.
Bhooth Bangla Sees Sharp Monday Decline
On the other hand, Bhooth Bangla, which is in its second week, witnessed a slow start. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film collected Rs 3.65 crore net on Day 11 (Monday), marking a big drop of about 70% from its strong second Sunday collection of Rs 12.50 crore. The film recorded an occupancy of around 11% across 8,755 shows.
As of Day 11, Bhooth Bangla has collected Rs 117.05 crore net in India. On the global front, the film has collected a worldwide gross of Rs 188.75 crore.
While the Monday dip is normal for most films, the magnitude of the drop for Bhooth Bangla in its second week indicates that the film will now heavily depend on positive word-of-mouth to have a long theatrical run.
Comparison Of Two Films
The contrast between the two big is striking. Dhurandhar 2 is a big-budget film that is now on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films. In comparison, Bhooth Bangla, which is a mass entertainer, has performed decently over its first week. By collecting double digit numbers during the weekends, the total collections of the film are boosted, but it is struggling to maintain momentum during the weekdays.

With the IPL season currently going on, both films will require strong screen retention to reach new targets, Dhurandhar 2 crossing Rs 1,150 crore net, and Bhooth Bangla entering the Rs 150 crore club.
