Who Is Shivam Mishra? Kanpur Tobacco Baron's Son Arrested In Lamborghini Crash

The arrest comes a day after a man identified as Mohan Lal claimed before a local court that he was behind the wheels and not Mishra at the time of the accident.

The Kanpur Police on Thursday arrested Shivam Mishra (35), son of local Tobacco tycoon KK Mishra in Kanpur for allegedly crashing a Lamborghini car earlier this week. The accident left several people injured. The arrest comes a day after a man identified as Mohan Lal claimed before a local court that he was behind the wheels and not Mishra at the time of the accident.

However, the court rejected the claims of the man, citing evidence presented by the police which indicated that Mishra was driving the luxury car and caused the accident. The arrest was made acting on a complaint lodged by 18-year-old e rickshaw driver Mohammed Taufeeq, who was among those hurt in the incident.

According to a report from The New Indian Express, Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal has stated that the Shivam Mishra will be produced in court. Quoting, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Atul Srivastava the report added that Mishra was had been not cooperating with the probe and had failed to appear before the investigating officer, which led to the formation of five police to locate him.

Acting on a tip-off about Shivam's arrival at Kanpur, police arrested him and produced him before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court around 10 a.m., seeking 14 days' judicial custody, Srivastava stated.

Shivam's father KK Mishra who is a Tobacco Baron in Kanpur had previously faced sweeping Income Tax investigations.

Also known as Munna Mishra, he is the proprietor of Banshidhar Tobacco Company, a Kanpur-based firm that supplies tobacco to several pan masala manufacturers across India

When did the accident occur?

The incident reportedly took place on Sunday at around 3 p.m., in Gwaltoli area, when the Lamborghini Revuelto, allegedly driven by Mishra, struck into pedestrians and other vehicles.

Initial investigation which were supported by CCTV and eyewitness accounts suggested that the car was speeding at the time of the accident.

Purported videos doing rounds on social media also show a private security personnel pulling a man, alleged to be Mishra from the driving seat and taking him away in another car. The crash left several people injured.
