The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 is set to be conducted on May 3, 2026. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has assured a "leak-proof" examination by implementing an intricate security system that includes everything from registration to the examination venues.
Employing methods such as biometric verification and AI oversight alongside GPS-monitored question papers, the agency is striving to eliminate every conceivable gap in one of India's toughest entrance examinations.
This year, the NEET-UG test is set to accommodate over 22.79 lakh applicants across centres in India and select international cities on May 3, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Biometric verification
NTA will use fingerprint scanning and facial recognition to authenticate candidates and prevent impersonation during NEET-UG 2026. Aadhaar-based verification has also been strengthened, and candidates have been advised to update their biometric details in advance.
AI-powered surveillance
Exam centres will be equipped with AI-enabled cameras that continuously monitor candidate behaviour. Any suspicious movement or pattern can be flagged in real time and sent to the control room for immediate action.
5G jammers and signal blocking
To curb cheating through electronic communication, centres will be fitted with high-frequency jammers. These systems are designed to block mobile networks, Bluetooth devices and even 5G signals.
Multi-layered frisking system & Strict dress code
Security checks will not be limited to the entry gate. Candidates will undergo frisking through metal detectors, digital scanning and manual checks, with inspections possibly repeated after bio-breaks and re-entry into the hall.

The dress code has been tightened to reduce the chances of concealment. Only light clothes with half sleeves are allowed, while shoes, watches, jewellery and other accessories are prohibited. Candidates wearing religious attire must report early for extra checks.
GPS tracking and digital locking of question papers
Question papers will be transported under GPS tracking to prevent leaks during transit. Digital locking systems will ensure that question paper packets open only at authorised centres and at the scheduled time.
Controlled exam environment
The exam hall will remain under strict CCTV surveillance and jammer protection throughout the test. Candidate movement will be closely monitored, including after breaks, to maintain constant oversight.

Police monitoring and external vigilance
Question papers will be moved under police escort to prevent any security breach. Authorities are also keeping watch on coaching centres and suspicious networks to stop organised malpractice.
Registration-level safeguards & Zero tolerance on prohibited items
Security begins at the registration stage itself through Aadhaar-based eKYC verification. Live photo capture is also part of the process to ensure identity authentication from the start.
NTA has banned electronic and communication devices, most personal stationery and non-transparent items.
