A police constable was killed after a drilling machine fell on him at an MMRDA flyover construction site in Mankhurd on Wednesday, NDTV reported. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Chavan, who was attached to the Nehru Nagar police station. He was on his way home when the accident took place.

It is suspected that the crane toppled due to a landslide as the drilling machine was on uneven ground. A case is being registered against the contractor at Mankhurd police station, Mumbai police said.  The road work for the Municipal Corporation was underway on the northbound stretch of Sion-Panvel Road under Mankhurd Police Station limits. An excavator drilling crane was in use, and the contractor had reportedly installed it on uneven ground, reported Lokmat Times citing police officials.
