JEE Advance 2026: IIT Roorkee Announces Timetable, Registration Dates

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has unveiled the full timetable for the JEE Advanced 2026 examination, scheduled for May 17, 2026. This assessment will occur in two sessions on a single day, Paper 1 from 9 am to 12 pm, and Paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. It is compulsory for candidates to participate in both papers. Those who miss either will be excluded from the merit list.

Registration dates

Registration for Indian nationals will commence on April 23 and close on May 2, 2026. Foreign candidates can start applying earlier, beginning April 6. The complete application process will be conducted online through the official website at jeeadv.ac.in.

Admit cards will be available for downloading from May 11 to May 17, 2026. Candidates must present a printed version of their hall ticket along with a valid photo ID at the examination venue — electronic copies will not be accepted.

Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2026

Only those who rank among the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (BE/BTech), regardless of category, are eligible to register for JEE Advanced. Furthermore, candidates are permitted to attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years, having first taken Class 12 in either 2025 or 2026 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as essential subjects. Individuals previously enrolled in any IIT are not eligible.

Answer key, objections to questions, results of JEE Advanced 2026

IIT Roorkee will publish candidate response sheets on May 21, followed by a provisional answer key on May 25. Candidates may raise objections between May 25 and 26, after which a final answer key will be released on June 1, 2026.

Results will be announced on June 1, 2026, by 10 am, and JoSAA counselling for IIT admissions will begin the next day, June 2.

Syllabus for JEE Advanced 2026

Although the syllabus which encompasses Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the Class 11–12 level remains unchanged, the marking scheme, distribution of marks, and the number of questions will only be revealed to candidates on the examination day, adding an element of surprise that characterizes the test. With JEE Main Session 2 concluding on April 9, candidates will have approximately five and a half weeks to focus solely on preparing for JEE Advanced before the test on May 17.
