Randhawa wins with 3,64,043 votes from the high-profile Lok Sabha constituency of Gurdaspur.

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa from the Congress party won against Dinesh Singh Babbu from the high-profile Lok Sabha constituency of Gurdaspur, according to latest data from the Election Commission website. Randhawa won with 3,64,043 votes, while Babbu from Bharatiya Janata Party got 2,81,182 votes.
The BJP-led NDA is ahead in approximately 291 out of 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, whereas the INDIA alliance is leading in more than 233 seats, as per the latest ECI data, which differ from the exit polls' forecasts of a significantly larger win for the NDA.
Gurdaspur has been a vital battle ground for the political parties, with two districts in proximity with the Indian-Pakistan border.
In the prominent constituency, all eyes are on the contest between Dinesh Singh Babbu of Bharatiya Janta Party and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa of Indian National Congress. While the BJP is looking to retain power after the exit of Sunny Deol, Congress will be looking to regain footing in the constituency with the former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab leading the way.
MP Sunny Deal last year had ruled out attempting re-election, stating that he was not suited for politics and prefers to focus on his acting career. Babbu will also be taking on Aam Aadmi Party's sitting MLA from Batala, Amansher Singh and Shiromani Akali Dal's senior leader Daljit Singh Cheema. He is being helped by Fathe Singh Bajwa and Ashwani Sekhri, who both switched from Congress to BJP for campaining in rural areas.
The INC and the BJP have both held dominance over Gurdaspur at different time periods. In 2019, BJP candidate Sunny Deol had won from the constituency with 5,58,719 votes and a winning margin of 7.5%.
Before this in 2017, Sunil Jakhar from Congress saw a record-breaking win with a victory margin of 1,93,219 votes, after the demise of MP Vinod Khanna. It was the passing of the renowned actor and BJP MP that led to the by-elections. Khanna in 2014 had won with 4,82,255 votes.
The Punjab constituency, comprising nine Vidhan Sabha seats, saw a voter turnout of 66.67% in the seventh phase of elections held on June 1.
