In a move aimed at tightening expenditure and reshaping its organisational framework, Oracle has started trimming its workforce globally, according to a Business Insider report. Staff members began to be informed of the decision on Tuesday morning, but the scale of the layoffs remains uncertain.
According to a Reddit post titled “After 20 years and 2 years before retirement, my dad just got laid off via Email.''
The user wrote, “My dad has worked for Oracle for 20 years, worked for the same boss for 20 years. Not even a phone call. These companies are evil. What is he supposed to do for the next 2 years? Keep in mind, he has cancer and now he has no health insurance.

The post sparked several reactions. One person wrote, “Sorry to hear. I was with company for 29 years and go laid off via email today. Stay strong . God bless you and your dad.”
“That is capitalism for you. Where owners make the rules. However, when we tell them that we live in a class society, they start laughing,” wrote another user.
A person said, “Sorry to hear that. Many people who were the backbone in building the company and contributed a lot are laid off with an email. This is really not right.”
“Time to lawyer up. IF others in his position were NOT eliminated he maybe able to show he was selected for the RIF (reduction in force) because he had cancer and that is against the law,” one user wrote.
Oracle's layoffs seem to be progressing in waves across its global operations. Termination emails, seen by Business Insider, told employees their positions had been eliminated following a consideration of the firm's current business priorities.
“After signing your termination paperwork, you will be eligible to receive a severance package subject to the terms and conditions of the severance plan. You will receive an email from DocuSign to your Oracle email address with details on your severance and termination date,” the email read.
