Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions Ltd. is focussed on the middle class and lower-middle class in tier-2 and tier-3 towns, driven by a vision to make e-mobility more accessible to wider population, according to the electric vehicle firm's Founder and Chief Executive Officer Sulajja Firodia Motwani.

"We want to bring green mobility to the masses and not just the classes... There is a huge market in the middle-class and lower middle-class segments in the tier 2 and tier 3 towns,” she said in an interview with NDTV Profit on Friday.

Currently, the company has 700 dealers, with 70% of them operating in tier 2 and 3 towns.

When asked about what sets E-Luna, the company’s flagship two-wheeler, apart, she emphasised on its affordability, with an EMI of less than Rs 2,000 per month.

Commenting on Tesla's entry into India, Motwani highlighted that automobiles are “not a one-player-takes-all” game.

“I think if Tesla comes, it's a great thing. It will only create more excitement about electric vehicles. It's a large market and different players will have their own strategies and everybody will be able to find their own focus area,” she said.

She also pointed out competition in the space will lead to specialisation along different fields of emerging technology and market segments. The companies can target different price points. This will ultimately make consumers confident about buying EVs, according to Motwani.

Motwani said that by 2030, she is hopeful to see more than 50% of the two-wheelers and over 75% of the three-wheelers as electric. It will help reduce transportation costs, create millions of green jobs, and help India transition from being a consumer to a producer of EVs, she added.
