ACC, the cement and building material company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, is driving sustainable livelihoods in rural Tikaria, Uttar Pradesh, by empowering women through self-help groups.

Garima Tiwari’s journey is one such case where she established a home-based RO water plant for financial independence and community impact.

With an assistance of Rs 60,000 from the Adani Foundation, Tiwari also received essential training and exposure visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of the RO water business. Additionally, she secured a loan of Rs. 1 lakh from a self-help group called 'Laxhmi,' Rs 1.5 lakh from the Uttar Pradesh National Rural Livelihoods Mission, and a personal bank loan of Rs 3 lakh.

This support enabled Tiwari to set up a home-based RO water plant, which now supplies safe drinking water to local markets in the Gouriganj area. Her business generates a steady monthly income of Rs 19,000, helping both her family’s financial security and the well-being of her community.

Tiwari is a success story of the potential of self-help groups in fostering economic self-reliance and social empowerment.

By aligning their efforts with government programs and social institutions, the Adani Foundation continues to facilitate income-generating activities that address financial challenges and ensure sustainable livelihoods, it said in a statement.

ACC and the Adani Foundation remain dedicated to promoting inclusive development and innovative livelihood opportunities, contributing to long-term economic growth in rural India, the note added.

In recent news, the Adani Foundation also donated Rs 67.60 lakh to Amir Hussain Lone, a differently abled cricketer from Jammu & Kashmir, to build an indoor cricket facility to train children (including differently abled) in his native town of Anantnag.

The cricketer said in his social media post that he wrote to Gautam Adani regarding financial aid for his dream to open a cricket facility to train children to play cricket. He soon received a reply from the head honcho of the Adani Group asking him to start the work immediately as he would be assured the requisite funding.

"We will not let him (Gautam Adani) down; we will make it happen," Lone said.
