Samsung is preparing to launch two of its top-end smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, later this year.
While both are expected to target premium users, the devices are aimed at different product segments — one focusing on innovation in foldables and the other on traditional performance and camera features.
Let’s take a look at how the two upcoming smartphones compare in terms of specifications, camera and other features.
Design And Build
The Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue with the familiar bar-style format, reportedly weighing around 218g. It is expected to have a 6.9-inch flat AMOLED display and a titanium frame. The design will likely retain its angular shape and built-in S Pen, much like previous Galaxy Note successors, according to a report in Phone Arena.
In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely to come with a slimmer form factor compared to earlier foldables. The folded thickness is expected to match the S25 Ultra at 8.2mm. It may weigh slightly more at around 236g due to the hinge mechanism. The cover screen is said to be wider than previous foldable models, while the main screen could be an 8-inch AMOLED panel, according to a Phone Arena report.
While the S25 Ultra will likely feature Gorilla Armor glass and a full IP68 rating, the Z Fold 7 may be limited to IP48, suggesting it will not have the same level of dust resistance due to the folding design.

Display
Both devices are expected to feature Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with 120Hz adaptive refresh rates and peak brightness above 2,800 nits. The S25 Ultra will likely have a single QHD+ display, while the Z Fold 7 will come with two — a 6.5-inch outer screen and a larger internal foldable display.
Performance And Software
Samsung is expected to equip both phones with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset, based on the 3nm process. Both models are likely to offer at least 12GB of RAM, with a possible 16GB option for the Z Fold 7.
The handsets are expected to run on Android 16 with One UI 8, alongside Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, including live translation, call summaries and Circle to Search. Both devices are expected to receive seven years of software updates, the Phone Arena report mentioned.
Camera
The S25 Ultra is expected to retain its quad-camera setup, featuring a 200MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens, 10MP 3x telephoto lens and a 50MP periscope lens with 5x zoom. It remains Samsung’s flagship camera system.
The Z Fold 7 is expected to get a major camera upgrade. It may use the same 200MP main sensor found in the Ultra. But the rest of its camera setup could stay modest. It might include a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP 3x telephoto lens. Unlike the Ultra, it may not offer extended zoom features, according to Phone Arena.
Battery And Charging
The S25 Ultra is expected to come with a 5,000mAh battery. It may support 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The Z Fold 7 is likely to retain the 4,400mAh battery seen in the previous model. It could offer 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Overall, the S25 Ultra is designed for users who want strong camera performance, long battery life and a built-in stylus. The Z Fold 7 is aimed at those who prefer multitasking and productivity in a foldable device. It may offer better portability and an improved camera. Official launch dates and full details are yet to be confirmed.
