Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its latest flagship device, the Galaxy S25 Edge, with a special Unpacked event scheduled for May 12 at 8 p.m. ET (5.30 a.m., May 13, IST). The Galaxy S25 Edge, the fourth model in the Galaxy S25 series, sets itself apart with a sleek, lightweight design, offering a more compact alternative to the S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra.

Though Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge earlier this year during the January event that showcased the full S25 lineup, the Edge will receive a dedicated spotlight in the upcoming Unpacked presentation. The Edge model will debut with a durable Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 display and a powerful 200-megapixel wide-angle camera, marking a major stride in both design and mobile photography, according to a CNET report.

The exact dimensions of the Galaxy S25 Edge remain a mystery, but early visuals from the January event have provided a glimpse into its thin profile. The phone will have a similar height and width to the standard Galaxy S25 but will be noticeably thinner. Unlike other models in the S25 range, the S25 Edge will feature just two rear cameras, echoing the setup seen in Samsung’s Z Flip series. One of these will be the 200-megapixel wide lens, which was officially confirmed in the company’s teaser.

Samsung has made it clear that despite the phone’s slim design, durability remains a priority. Annika Bizon, Samsung UK Marketing Director, emphasised the importance of this feature earlier this year. TechRadar quoted Bizon as saying, “With anything slim, durability (has to come as part of the package). Those are the two features (of the Edge) that are exciting (for us). Well, I know durability isn't exciting, but it's really important. So watch this space because there are some exciting things to come regarding this phone.”

Further leaks from WinFuture have provided more detailed specifications for the S25 Edge, including a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, a 3,800mAh battery and the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. The device will offer 12GB of RAM, with storage options of 256GB and 512 GB. In terms of colour choices, reports suggest that Jet Black, Icy Blue and Silver will be available at launch. The phone is expected to weigh around 163 grams.

Samsung is yet to announce an official release date for the S25 Edge, but speculation points to a late spring or early summer launch, potentially aligning with the end of May, as suggested by WinFuture.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Expected Price

Samsung’s president of mobile devices, TM Roh, told Bloomberg earlier this year that the final pricing for the Galaxy S25 Edge is yet to be confirmed, but the Edge is expected to be cheaper than the $1,300 Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.

According to WinFuture, the S25 Edge is expected to retail for around 1,249 Euros (around Rs 1.19 lakh) for the 256GB model and 1,369 Euros (around Rs 1.3 lakh) for the 512GB version.
