South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch is set to join Mumbai Indians (MI) as a replacement for his compatriot, pacer Lizaad Williams, who has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to a knee injury.

Bosch has been served a legal notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for breaching his contractual obligations. The controversy arose after Bosch withdrew from the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) following his selection by Mumbai Indians for IPL 2025.

As per a PTI report, the legal notice was served to Bosch through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments.

Initially picked by Peshawar Zalmi for PSL 2025, Bosch decided to opt out. The PSL is scheduled to take place from April 11 to May 25, which overlaps with the IPL 2025 season running from March 22 to May 25.

PSL franchises have voiced their concerns over Bosch's withdrawal, fearing it may set a precedent where players sign contracts with PSL teams but later prioritise the IPL. Informal discussions have even included the possibility of imposing a ban on players who choose to abandon PSL commitments in favour of the IPL.

The 30-year-old Bosch has played 86 T20 matches, taken 59 wickets and has a highest score of 81. He hasn't yet featured in an IPL match, but he was a part of the MI Cape Town’s title-winning campaign in the 2025 SA20 season.

Who Is Corbin Bosch?

Corbin Bosch comes from a cricketing family. His father, Tertius Bosch, was a former South African cricketer.

Corbin Bosch made a name for himself early in his career as a member of South Africa’s U-19 World Cup winning squad in 2014. In the final, he delivered a match-winning spell of 4/15, which earned him the Player of the Match award.

Bosch made his T20 debut for the Titans in domestic cricket in 2015. Over the years, he continued to feature in domestic and franchise leagues worldwide. He played in the 2022 Caribbean Premier League for the Barbados Royals and was later picked by Paarl Royals for the inaugural edition of the SA20 League.

In 2023, he was selected for South Africa A’s tour to Sri Lanka, where he played three List A matches and two first-class games. His performances earned him a call-up to the senior national squad in the ODI series against Pakistan. Soon, Bosch also got an opportunity in Test cricket, making his debut in the Boxing Day Test. He scored 81 runs to rescue South Africa from a difficult position. The Proteas won that Test, securing their spot in the World Test Championship final.
