Goa Voters Will Repent For Giving A Fractured Mandate: Parsekar
Outgoing Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said that the people of Goa will repent for the next five years for giving a fractured mandate.
“I don't know why there was such a result. People have given a fractured mandate and I feel they have committed a mistake. They will repent for next five years,” Parsekar told reporters after submitting his resignation to Goa Governor Mridula Sinha.
Parsekar lost from Mandrem constituency to Congress candidate Dayanand Sopte by over 7,000 votes.
The outgoing chief minister was accompanied by his cabinet colleague Rajendra Arlekar who lost from Pernem seat.

As many as six cabinet ministers in Goa including Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar lost their respective seats. The six ministers included Mahadev Naik (Social Welfare), Dilip Parulekar (Woman And Child Development), Dayanand Mandrekar (Art And Culture), Rajendra Arlekar (Forest And Environment Minister) and Avertan Furtado (Labour And Employment).

Outgoing Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal defeated his nearest rival Congress candidate Captain Amarinder Singh by 22,770 votes from Lambi Assembly constituency. Badal, SAD candidate, polled 66,375 votes while Congress candidate Amarinder Singh secured 43,605 votes.

Exit Polls Peg BJP In The Lead
After a campaign dominated by rhetoric, unlikely alliances, polarization and defection, voters across Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa have sealed the fate of 7,152 candidates that are contesting for the 690 seats on offer.
Market analysts are primarily watching the outcome in Uttar Pradesh where most exit polls have forecast that the Bharatiya Janata Party is likely emerge as the single largest party. Two exit polls, those done by India Today - Axis and by News 24 - Today’s Chanakya are projecting a clear majority for the BJP in UP.
