The Mumbai Traffic Police have temporarily rerouted vehicular movement in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to address frequent congestion in the city. The revised traffic plan, in effect since Jan. 21, will continue until April 20 with major changes affecting key stretches of Avenue 3 Road.
No Entry
Two critical segments along Avenue 3 Road are closed for vehicular movement:
The stretch connecting the WeWork building to BKC Connector Junction.
The section from BKC Connector Junction to NSE Junction.
Alternative Routes
Vehicles travelling on Avenue 3 Road must take a left turn at the WeWork building gap.
From there, motorists should turn right behind the WeWork building.
The revised route then guides vehicles under the BKC Connector bridge, leading to either MMRDA ground or NSE Junction.
Mumbai-Pune Expressway Restrictions
Travellers on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway should anticipate disruptions from Jan. 22 to 24 due to girder installation works by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Traffic restrictions will be enforced daily between 12 PM and 3 PM near Dongargaon and Kusgaon.
Pune-bound traffic will be redirected at Valvan via NH-48 and will rejoin the expressway at Dehu Road. Mumbai-bound traffic remains unaffected.
Mumbai faced heavy traffic congestion on Jan. 21 due to increased vehicles heading to Navi Mumbai for Coldplay's final concert in the city. The surge disrupted traffic flow across the region.
The British band’s first India concert at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Jan. 18 created an 8-10 km traffic jam on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, especially between Turbhe and Kharghar. Thousands of vehicles, including ambulances and Maharashtra ministers’ cars, were stuck in the chaos, compounded by a nearby concert by Sonu Nigam.
The Navi Mumbai police had deployed 1,000 officers and imposed traffic restrictions for the Coldplay concert. Heavy vehicles were banned in key areas, including Uran, Nhavasheva, and Thane, during the three-day event. Suburban trains were specially booked for fans travelling to the concert, operating between Goregaon and Nerul stations.
Certain roads near the stadium, such as the service roads near Bhimashankar Society and Turbhe MIDC, were closed, with traffic redirected to alternate routes.
