Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Rashtrapati Bhavan to brief President Droupadi Murmu on Operation Sindoor on Wednesday.
Earlier in the morning, PM Modi had chaired a cabinet meeting in New Delhi, following the strike. In the meeting, the Prime Minister described Operation Sindoor as a matter of pride for the nation, while lauding the Indian defence forces.
In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian armed forces carried out a strike on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. This was done in retaliation to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
Operation Sindoor was a tri-service operation involving all three wings of the armed forces, including the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy, NDTV reported. The Indian Army, in its statement, said the strikes were executed with precision to hit only terrorist bases. No Pakistani military facility or civilian areas were targeted, it said.
