Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 8 p.m. on Monday, after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
He spoke about Operation Sindoor, a precision strike conducted by the Indian military on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were carried out after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people.
He called the attack "barbaric" and said that it aimed to destroy the country's harmony. The precision strikes launched by Indian forces on Wednesday to destroy the terrorist camps were aimed at retribution, he said.
The prime minister stated that the Indian forces killed over 100 terrorists in cross border strikes. He also said the country foiled Pakistan's attempts to counter-attack.
Pakistan looked to survive after three days of Indian action, and requested military-level talks for ceasefire, he added.
Blood and water won't flow together, Modi said, indicating continued suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.
Modi said that talks with Pakistan, if any, will only be held for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
