The Indian Space Research Organisation postponed the launch of the European Space Agency’s Proba-3 mission from its PSLV-C59 launch vehicle to Dec. 5.
"Due to an anomaly detected in the PROBA-3 spacecraft, PSLV-C59/PROBA-3 launch rescheduled to tomorrow at 16:12 hours," ISRO said on X.
The launch will be conducted by ISRO's commercial arm, NewSpace India Ltd., marking a new milestone between the two organisations in the field of space science.
The launch of ERA's Proba-3 mission will unfold from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. The ascent will take place at 4:12 p.m. IST, offering a thrilling sight for space enthusiasts.
What Will The Launch Offer
The Proba-3 mission will help in providing new information about the Sun and space weather. It was designed by ESA to study the Sun's corona, which is considered to be the hottest and the outermost covering of the sun’s atmosphere.
Two satellites will work together, designed and integrated for the mission. They will create a 150-meter-long coronagraph, offering an unmatched view of the Sun's faint corona, closer to the solar edge.
The spacecraft will be positioned in a highly elliptical orbit, ranging from 600 km to 60,000 km from Earth.
"The double-satellite is the most ambitious member yet of our Proba family of experimental missions and will help uncover the mysteries of the Sun's corona," said ESA on X.
