Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA of Shalimar Bagh seat, took oath as the chief minister of Delhi on Thursday, a day after Bharatiya Janata Party finalised her for the top role. Alongside her, six other BJP legislators were sworn in as ministers in the new government.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Delhi's iconic Ramlila Maidan, days after BJP won 48 out of 70 seats in the assembly election held on February 5. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena administered the oath to Gupta and her cabinet at the event, attended by top BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

After the ceremony, the newly sworn-in Delhi government held a Cabinet meeting. Later, at a press conference, Gupta announced the allocation of portfolios to the six ministers.
