The Bharatiya Janata Party has been on a winning streak in 2024, be it the Lok Sabha elections or Assembly elections in multiple states across India. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won the Lok Sabha elections for the third time in a row in 2024 with BJP bagging 240 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi created history by retaining the top post for the third time in a row.
Since the victory in Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has won Assembly elections in most of the states, with its latest addition being Maharashtra.
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra for the third time on Dec. 5. The oath taking ceremony marked the end of an impasse that prevailed for more than a week after the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance registered a landslide victory in the state.
With retaining power in Maharashtra, the BJP now rules in 14 states in India. Some of the notable chief ministers under BJP include Yogi Adityanath (Uttar Pradesh), Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam) and Pushkar Singh Dhami (Uttarakhand). States like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Tripura, Goa and Chhattisgarh also have BJP chief ministers.
The NDA (National Democratic Alliance) led by the BJP has 20 chief ministers in India.
