Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw mentioned the four-point approach to governance and policy making of the NDA government guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing the NDTV 'Indian Of The Year' event in New Delhi on Friday, Vaishnaw said the government has emphasised on massive public investment in social, digital, physical infrastructure; focus on manufacturing and innovation; inclusive growth; and simplification of rules and regulation.

Speaking on the first agenda, he said the government has gradually increased the capex from Rs 3 lakh crore 10 years ago to Rs 11 lakh crore in the last budget. "That is leading to productivity improvement and job creation. We have widened the network of railway and airline connectivity," he said.

The minister mentioned the 'Make in India' programme, under which, domestic manufacturing capacity in many sectors have increased to reduce reliance on imports and foster industrial innovation.

When it comes to inclusive growth, "people at the bottom of the pyramid have received the benefit", he said. The minister listed a series of welfare measures and direct benefit transfers for crores of Indians, like subsidised housing and LPG connections.

The government has replaced and discontinued many old and irrelevant laws and standardised norms, Vaishnaw said. "We removed over 1,500 laws from the statute. We have created new systems to simplify compliance procedures. The scale and scope of government work has increased."

Vaishnaw, who handles the electronics and information technology portfolio, said India is leading in various technologies like payment systems and is prime to benefit from the world's growing adoption of artificial intelligence.

"AI has become a mainstream and impacting every aspect of human life. There is war happening, supply chain disruption. The only country that the world has hope in is India," he said, stressing on a sustained 6-8% economic growth outlook.

"There is a wave of anti-incumbency across the world, but in India, a government was elected for the third consecutive time," he added.
