The top 10 most-valued firms gained a cumulative Rs 55,231 crore in market valuation on Friday, with Bajaj Finance Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. emerging as the biggest gainers.
Bajaj Finance's market capitalisation rose Rs 14,326.7 crore to Rs 5.51 lakh crore, while that of ICICI Bank increased Rs 11,469.3 crore to Rs 9.44 lakh crore. RIL's market cap surged Rs 11,299.5 crore to Rs 17.3 lakh crore.
Bharti Airtel Ltd. gained Rs 9,455.08 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 9.8 lakh crore, while Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.'s market cap rose Rs 5,372.9 crore to Rs 12.9 lakh crore.
Infosys Ltd. was the sole loser among the top 10 firms and ended the trading session by shedding Rs 8,366.8 crore, taking its market cap to Rs 6.62 lakh crore.
RIL retained its position as the most-valued firm, followed by HDFC Bank Ltd., TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, Infosys, State Bank of India, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. and ITC Ltd.
Indian equities had their best weekly run in years on Friday as investors shrugged off negative global sentiments to chase attractive stocks hammered by a recent correction.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed 159.75 points or 0.69% higher at 23,350.40, while the BSE Sensex ended 557.45 points or 0.73% up at 76,905.51. During the day, the Nifty jumped to 23,402.70, while the Sensex rose to 77,041.94.
