The Indian equity benchmarks closed in the green on Monday as shares of HDFC Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd. and State Bank of India led the gains.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 221.75 points or 0.91% higher at 24,585.05 and the BSE Sensex ended 746.29 points or 0.93% up at 86,604.08. The NSE Nifty 50 gained as much as 0.98% during the day.
Adani Enterprises, Tata Motors, Eternal and Grasim Industries were among the top gainers in the Nifty. Hero MotoCorp was among the top losers.
HDFC Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd. and State Bank of India led the gains in the Nifty.
All the sectors ended in the green, with Nifty PSU Bank, Realty, Defence, Auto and Pharma logging the most gains in the lot.
The BSE Midcap and SmallCap indices ended 0.79% and 0.35% higher, respectively.
The market breadth was skewed in the favour of the buyers as 2,237 stocks advanced, 1,930 declined and 170 remained unchanged on the BSE.
