Hero MotoCorp Ltd., JSW Steel Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Trent Ltd., and HCLTech were among top gainers on Thursday.
Whereas, IndusInd Bank Ltd. was the biggest laggard among Nifty 50 stocks. The benchmark equity indices closed with gains for the second straight day on Thursday.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 395.2 points, or 1.6% higher at 25,062.1 and the BSE Sensex closed 1,200.18 points, or 1.48% up at 82,530.74.
The Nifty Media continued its rally, closing higher for the seventh consecutive day. Conversely, the Nifty Financial Services and Banks indices snapped their two-day losing streak, contributing to the overall market performance.
Hero MotoCorp emerged as the top performer, rising more than 6% to reach a four-month high. The intraday high was Rs 4,347 apiece. The stock pared gains to trade near the day's high around Rs 4,325 apiece.
JSW Steel came in second and rose as high as 5.19% to reach Rs 1,040.60, while HCLTech was also among the winners and closed at Rs 1,637.70 after rising as high as 5.19%. Trent and HCLTech were also among the top performers.
IndusInd Bank was the worst performer on Thursday, falling 3.03% to Rs 757.85 apiece and closing at Rs 781.35 apiece.
