Nifty Top Gainers And Losers On April 2: From Tata Consumer Products, Zomato To BEL, Nestle

The Nifty 50 closed 165.20 points or 0.71% higher at 23,330.90, and the Sensex ended 592.93 points or 0.78% up at 76,617.44.

Tata Consumer Products Ltd., Zomato Ltd., and Titan Co. emerged as the top gainers for the day. On the other hand, Bharat Electronics Ltd., Nestle India Ltd., and UltraTech Cement Ltd. were the worst performers of the Nifty 50.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex snapped a two-day losing streak on Wednesday, tracking a rise in HDFC Bank Ltd. In the previous session, the benchmark indices ended at over one-week low.

The Nifty 50 closed 165.20 points or 0.71% higher at 23,330.90, and the Sensex ended 592.93 points or 0.78% up at 76,617.44.

In terms of sectoral performance, 13 of the 14 sectoral indices ended higher, and one ended lower. The NSE Nifty Realty rose the most, while the NSE Nifty Defence was the only loser.

The Indian rupee weakened by five paise against the US dollar on Wednesday, ahead of US President Donald Trump's tariff announcement. The local currency ended at 85.51 against the greenback.

Tata Consumer Products, the top gainer in the Nifty 50, closed 6.91% higher after it rose over 8.15% on Wednesday. Zomato's stock extended its rally for the second day and rose up to 5.24% to Rs 212.60 before closing 4.80% higher.

Titan's stock rallied 3.95% to Rs 3,105 and closed 3.86% higher on Wednesday. IndusInd Bank Ltd. also closed in the positive on Friday after it rose 3.76% to touch Rs 708.40. The bank extended its gain and was among the top gainers for the second day.

On the flip side, BEL shares plunged up to 6.01%, before closing 3.27% lower at Rs 282.45 apiece, extending its fall for the second day. Nestle fell as much as 3.85% to Rs 2,148 on Wednesday but it saw some recovery and closed 4.86% lower. UltraTech Cement shares also closed 0.91% lower at Rs 11,275. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. was also among the worst performers for the second day.

Bajaj Finance was one of the top companies dragging the Nifty for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
