Trent Ltd., Bharat Electronics Ltd., Hindalco Industries Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd. and Adani Enterprises Ltd. were among the top gainers in the NSE Nifty 50 on Monday.
While Infosys Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., HCL Technologies Ltd., Hero MotoCorp and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. were among the biggest draggers.
Trent topped the charts after gaining 3.77% to close at Rs 6,120 apiece; followed by Bharat Electronics closing 3.10% higher at Rs 420.90 apiece; and then Hindalco closing 1.89% higher at Rs 661.40 apiece. Bajaj Finance and Adani Enterprises were also among the winners.
At the bottom of the chart was Infosys, closing 2.40% lower at Rs 1,584 apiece; followed by L&T closing 2.14% lower at Rs 3,583.70. HCLTech settled 2.11% lower to close at Rs 1,703.20 apiece. Hero Moto and M&M were also among the laggards.
The Nifty 50 index closed 0.56% lower at 24971.90 while the Sensex 30 settled 0.62% lower at 81896.79. The share price of Trent Ltd. rose as high as 5.30% to touch a nearly five month high, going against the markets' downward movement on Monday. This came after the stock's inclusion in the Sensex 30.
Trent, along with Bharat Electronics Ltd., was added to the index as part of a rejig. The stocks replaced Nestle India Ltd. and IndusInd Bank Ltd.
