Three new criminal laws have come into effect across India starting Monday, replacing British colonial-era statutes. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam will supplant the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
