Transactions through the Unified Payments Interface touched a record 1,868 crore in May, according to data released by the National Payments Corporation of India.
NPCI runs the Unified Payments Interface used for real-time payments between peers or at merchants' end while making purchases.
In April, the UPI transaction count stood at 1,789 crore.
May saw UPI transactions worth Rs 25.14 lakh crore, marking a 23% surge year-on-year growth in transaction amount. This compares to Rs 23.95 lakh crore worth of transaction in April. The average daily transaction count during May was 60.2 crore.
In value terms, the average daily transaction amounted to a Rs 81,106 crore in May. This compares with Rs 79,831 crore in April.
