Sahara chief Subrata Roy, who has been held in Delhi's Tihar Jail since March 4, has withdrawn a proposal for modifying conditions to his bail.
The Supreme Court had earlier granted conditional bail to Sahara chief directing him to pay Rs 5000 crore in cash and another Rs 5000 crore as bank guarantee.
Last week, Sahara expressed its inability to pay Rs 5,000 crore upfront for its chief's bail and instead proposed to pay the amount in instalments. Sahara had proposed the Supreme Court that it would pay Rs 2500 crore immediately and another Rs 2500 crore 21 days after Mr Roy's release.
Sahara chief lawyers have written to the Supreme Court, withdrawing the fresh proposal seeking relaxing bail conditions.
The Supreme Court on April 9 will hear Sahara chief's plea seeking quashing of March 4 order sending him and two other top Sahara executives to jail.
Sources told NDTV that since the Supreme Court is due to hear Mr Roy's petition over his arrest, there is no point in pushing for the bail application.
The sources also told NDTV that Sahara would wait for the outcome 9 April hearing, before moving the bail application.
