IndiGo Allows Flyers to Reserve Tickets Without Any Charges

Budget carrier IndiGo is now allowing flyers to block their seats without making any payment. Under this offer, customers can block a booking on any IndiGo flight first and confirm it later. Customers can hold the booking for up to six hours.

Budget carrier IndiGo is now allowing flyers to block their seats without making any payment. Under this offer, customers can block a booking on any IndiGo flight first and confirm it later. Customers can hold the booking for up to six hours.

Importantly, under this IndiGo offer, the ticket price would remain the same for six hours. If the customer makes the payment within six hours, the booking gets confirmed, Otherwise, the booking gets cancelled.

Registered users of IndiGo can go to its website and after selecting the flight can click on the 'Pay Later' button to hold the reservation. The customer will get a reservation number (PNR). The PNR will automatically get cancelled if payment is not made within the six hours. To make payment against the on-hold PNR, customers can make the payment on IndiGo's website.

This facility is not available on flights within 72 hours from the time of blocking reservation. This new offer was tweeted by IndiGo and also posted on its Facebook page.

Airlines in India this year have come up with many promotional schemes to attract flyers. Low-priced air tickets offered by various Indian airlines seem to have had an effect, with the number of passengers flown by them in August growing by over 8.3 per cent compared to July this year, official data showed.

The latest figures showed the number of domestic passengers carried by the airlines grew from 52.60 lakh in July to 56.97 lakh in August. (With Agency Inputs)
