New Delhi: State-owned IDBI Bank on Wednesday said it will remain open for government business for extended working hours the next day even as a section of bank employees are on strike.
March 31 is the last day of an ongoing four-day strike to protest against privatisation of IDBI Bank.
The strike has been called by two unions - United Forum of IDBI Bank Officers and Employees (UFIOE) and United Platform of IDBI Bank Unions (UPIBU) - to protest against government's plans to turnaround the heavily loss-making bank by handing over the management to private sector.
"Further, our customers are intimated that the Bank as Agency Bank for collection of tax and all government transactions is committed to conduct Central/State Government business and will remain open on March 31, 2016 for extended working hours as advised by RBI," IDBI Bank said in a statement.
"All Banking services viz. front-office services, back-office operations including cheque clearing, Remittances, RTGS/NEFT, Transaction Banking services, Treasury operations etc. are functioning normally," it said.
