Indian government is in touch with Elon Musk's social media platform X over its AI chatbot Grok using Hindi slang and abuses in responses, according to sources.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is currently examining the issue and has sought a reply from X on the datasets used to train Grok, the company's powerful AI bot.

Earlier this week, Grok's response in Hindi to a X user with abuses and slang raised concerns. An X user had prompted Grok to provide a list of the '10 best mutuals'. After a silence, the user responded with some harsh comments. This prompted Grok to retaliate with an equally casual tone and slur-loaded response.

The debate around AI chatbots and the data used to train them has been a longstanding one. AI companies also add disclaimers stating that their chatbots might hallucinate and offer incorrect or inappropriate information since they are ever-learning.
